"She is a deeply evocative singer with a dash of Piaf, a sprinkle of Lady Day, a pinch of Norah Jones and a teaspoon of Madeleine Peroux."

LYRICS

SHAKY LEGS

Ramon does nothing, he is a jerk but irresistible

Ramon does nothing, and he does it on principle

When she walked in the bar, he was dark like a cat

she drank from his bottle and she knew he had her like that

The world is spinning, shaky legs shaky legs…

and she can’t get up

The fan on the ceiling too slow to be true

the bottle was sweating that last drop of her virtue

The world is spinning, shaky legs shaky legs…

and she can’t get up

Ramon is still drinking, the bar is still black

Her legs were shaking

and the never went back

The world is spinning, shaky legs shaky legs…

and she can’t get up

4TH AND VODKA

The sound of your tears from (at) the bottom of your soul

you hear voices of blame of all your flaws

they're inside your head like a thousand hammers

your grandma preaching about good manners

You walk fast to the corner of 4th and vodka

your steps are hectic like dancing a polka

you know no one is meeting you down there

inside your heart you scream, you cry, you swear

but there's a stare in your eyes,

that dream, those butterflies

that itch in your feet, the stone in your shoe

that makes you bite off   more than you can chew.

you gotta keep going keep going you gotta keep going till you can no more

you keep running from the ghosts hunting your home

till you feel all the pain in your bones

you need to run, run, run till you're so worn out

you wanna sit down and talk of what this is about

you see a sign that says "dead end street"

you go down to face your own defeat

and you stop  for a drink,

then you realize that this life is just a wink

you gotta keep going keep going you gotta keep going till you can no more

PLAY WITH FIRE

I grew up

never felt older

torn between angels

and devils on my shoulders

one hand in Heaven a foot in Hell

you’ll never really know me well

Through the years

One trick I learnt

how to play with fire

and not get burnt

Go ahead draw a line

I’ll step over it’ every time

Oohh Come with me

Walk the wire

Play with me

Play with fire

Hide and seek

lost and found

we’ll play all night

till a king is crowned

I win you lose, I’ll drag you down

then we’ll start again and have some fun

Oohh Come with me

Walk the wire

Play with me

Play with fire

Oohh Come with me

Walk the wire

Play with me

Play with fire

EVE’S SONG

I feel empty, i feel guilty

in a place where no words can mend this

I feel holy, I feel lowly

but you’re the one who played dirty

I feel messy, feel aggressive

in a garden full of resentments

I feel crazy, a bit obsessive

lured by the words of the serpent

Don’t, don’t come any closer

don’t fake your tears

cause you blame (d) it on me

I feel lonely, misunderstood

walking out the garden of Eden

I don’t know what’s bad or good

all i know is I’m walking alone

chorus

There is freedom, new horizons

outside your crystal (golden) prison

call me moody, call me selfish

no shackles, no pain, no fears

I will not live in fears

Una sigaretta, ti cade in bocca

oh oh oh…

I freni ringhiano (fischiano) mentre ti metti in strada

la notte ti insegue, fa presto , torna a casa

non far che il sole ti bruci  l’ombra

che il mattino ti bussi alla porta

sei irriverente, cattivo, …..

sei randagio, da sempre come un cane

oh no amore, non sei da solo

ti guardi allo specchio  senza pieta’

hai la testa tutta annodata

se potessi ti farei uscir da la’

oh no amore, tu non sei solo

….

MOTEL SONG (somewhere)

The light of dawn through the shades

too many words that won’t fade

in front of us like a burial parade

we turned into strangers

The night has left with all our dreams

sliding on a moonbeam

love is never what it seems

it’s a path full of danger

We torn our story apart

another one will start

somewhere, somewhere

A man, a woman, a motel room

he was praying to the moon

running from his life of gloom

but no place for them to hide

She was staring at the wall

her head spinning like a disco ball

her life, its meaning fell so small

just misery and pride

We torn our story apart

another one will start

somewhere, somewhere

Too much sorrow, too much booze

nothing much else to lose

I used to be your gracious muse

now your fountain has run dry

No more light into your eyes,

two enemies never allies

couldn’t get their final prize

our last chapter has gone by

We torn our story apart

another one will start

somewhere, somewhere

PIECES

Life, skin, matters, fathers

sun, death, chicken, feathers

a tide that lifts you up

wind that tears you down

Steps, words, dreams, doors

seasons, changes, curses, wars

in a single day

life can fade away

Pieces of a story I don't understand

pieces of a puzzle slipping through my hands

pieces

My hand your heart

my mind your ghost

we are apart

we're friends at most

Pieces of a story I don't understand

pieces of a puzzle slipping through my hands

pieces

pieces

Me, you, us, them

stories, dances, bride, groom

from one stem

we all bloom

we all bloom

Pieces of a story I don't understand

pieces of a puzzle slipping through my hands

pieces

Life, skin, matters, fathers

sun, death, chicken, feathers

a tide that lifts you up

wind that tears you down

THERE’S A BRIDGE

No dog barks down there

cause he can’t see the moon

from where he stands

it’s too dark and gloomy

there’s a voice you hear

in the middle of the night

that’s dragging you out of bed

throwing shadows on your mind

It’s a roar like a thunder

it speaks of things you’ve never seen

time and places and you wonder

what’s your name, your hopes and dreams

Close your eyes baby, don’t frown

you can almost pretend it’s gone

try harder you won’t hear it

close your eyes, you won’t see it

There’s a bridge, it’s still there

between your life and all the things you never dared to try

Close your eyes, baby, close your eyes

he still can’t see the moon

he won’t hear your call

he won’t come home tonight

he can’t find his way

But tell me all about yourself

if you’re brave enough for the truth,

go ahead and show me who you really are

There’s a bridge, it’s still there

between your life and all the things you never dared to try

Close your eyes, baby, close your eyes

SILVERY GOWN

The night I decided to go wild

I knew there was no way back

I needed to feed that child

to dive deep in the black

The night I opened the door

I knew I’d be drowning in pain

And I would break through its core

get the needle out of my vein

The night I climbed the sky

I knew my lungs would collapse

my arms would learn to fly

I would find my way without maps

Then when high in the clouds

I would be part of the storm

a thunder would tear the shroud

my body would transform

la, la, la, la..

The night I left the earth

with all the daisies in bloom

new mothers were giving birth

out of one sacred womb

the night I touched the moon

there were no stars around

I started to croon

dancing in a silvery gown

la, la, la, la ….

GUN SHY

Just another night, you think you might rest your head on the pillow

another long hard, you don’t have much to say

there’s a whisper in the willow

leading you to your dreams

You wanna learn to fly, but you’re gun shy

feathers feel like lead

you’re right on the ledge, closer to the edge

you look down, you dread

All that time spent looking down…

All that time spent looking down

Maybe with the dawn, your fears will be gone

you’ll get up on your feet

You can’t fly without wings, but you can walk like a king

there’s a new day to greet

IF YOU ASK ME

If you ask me I’d say it wasn’t true

I would look you in the eyes and lie straight face to you

Underneath those soft white sheets

your hands are cold

If you ask me I’d say it was a big mistake

nothing tragic, we always played it safe

I wanted something passionate and sweet

a treehouse in the woods where we could meet

Like a red sky at night

when the fat lady sings

why do we cross the road

tell me, why do we cross the road?

If you ask me it’s all said and done

safe as a kid with a gun

we all want something on the street

tell me babe, what do you want from me?

Like a red sky at night

when the fat lady sings

why do we cross the road

tell me, why do we cross the road?

THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS

Look out my window on a Morning morning

see all the people walking, lost in their minds

Some of them look happy, some of them look grumpy

some of them look like their guard

and I wonder there’s a tie that binds their stories

and I wonder

How is the dealer of the cards?

Look out my window on a Tuesday morning

see some old lady walking with her cane

her hands are shaky and her clothes are grey and shabby

looks like her life must be lonely and hard

and I wonder: was it always such a painful struggle

and I wonder

How is the dealer of the cards?

Look out my window on a Friday morning

see a handsome guy his mercedes benz

his black italian suit and his hands are soft and smooth

looks like he never really had to try hard

and I wonder: does he have a million dollar mansion

and I wonder

How is the dealer of the cards?

The dealer deals

the gambler bets

the house will win

don’t you get it yet?

NOT THE MIRROR

I look around

all I can see

stuff I found

it was already here

The kitchen is empty and is cold

nothing boiling on the stove

not a hot mug to hold

no stories to share, no tea with cloves

None of this belongs to me

Not the mirror nor the frame

surely not the image that I see

is that the one to blame?

The bed is unmade

Did I ever lay on it

it hides a sharpened blade

in between the sheets

There's a stranger at the door

I would let her in

if only I knew a little more

about manners and how to receive

None of this belongs to me

Not the mirror nor the frame

surely not the image that I see

is that the one to blame?

If only this were my house

I would make myself at easy

I would make you my spouse

I would give you keys
