Lila

LILA

Lila used to scream most of the time

till she couldn’t hear her own thoughts

the voices in her head didn’t seem to rhyme

too loud to connect the dots

Lila used to run most of the time

far, far away from her life

a mountain too high too steep to climb

in her mind she always got lost

spread your arms

pretend to fly

spread your arms,

reach for the sky

Lila used to laugh most of the time

with an empty look in her eyes

nothing in her heart felt like a crime

the truth was the same as a lie

spread your arms

pretend to fly

spread your arms,

reach for the sky

Lila couldn’t sleep most of the time

monsters parade in her head

whispering her name, kept her up at night

dancing underneath her bed

spread your arms

pretend to fly

spread your arms,

reach for the sky
